About the firm


Van Eeden Rabie Inc is committed to giving sound legal advice and to consistently rendering first class legal services to its clients.

Established in 2006 and incorporated in 2012 as Van Eeden Inc, the firm is now operating as Van Eeden Rabie Inc.  We work in association with firms in Pretoria, Randburg, Cape Town and Durban.

Our areas of practice include commercial, corporate and consumer law as well as family law.

In our family and personal law practice we deal particularly with family matters such as wills, estates, divorces and the establishment of trusts.

In our commercial, corporate and consumer law practice we deal with the entire life cycle of business and business relationships. This includes:
  • the establishment of businesses
  • business regulation and the business/state interface
  • the creation, maintenance and dissolution of business relationships
  • partnership and conflict between businesses
  • the dissolution of business entities.

We offer a wide range of legal services to individuals, families, companies, close corporations and trusts. We understand the needs of both individuals and businesses and offer the qualifications and experience necessary to contribute value to individuals, to small businesses and to larger undertakings.

Our Directors


Evert van Eeden
Attorney, BA LL B LL M LL D.

​He holds an LL B degree from the University of London, an LL M degree from the University of Virginia, an LL M degree in commercial Law from Unisa and the University of Pretoria, and diplomas in tax and labour law.

Evert is experienced in a wide range of legal disciplines. He is the author of:
  • Consumer Protection Law in South Africa (LexisNexis 2013 and 2018);
  • The South African chapter on Unfair Trading Practices (2016) in the Comparative Law Yearbook of International Business (Kluwer Law International) with Louis van Wyk, Lodewyk Cilliers, and Danie Pienaar;
  • The South African chapter on Product Recall (Getting The Deal Through, London) with Louis van Wyk (2014-2015), with Louis van Wyk and Elzaan Rabie (2016-2017 and 2017-2018);
  • The South African chapter on Product Liability in International Product Liability (Center for International Legal Studies, Salzburg) 2016-2017 and 2017-2018;
  • A Commentary on the Consumer Protection Act Regulations (LexisNexis 2011);
  • The title on Consumer Protection Law in The Law of South Africa (LAWSA) Vol 5(1); 
  • A Guide to the Consumer Protection Act (LexisNexis 2009) ; and
  • The impact of the Consumer Protection Act on pharmacists, with Dr Karen du Toit, S Afr Med J 2014 104 (10).

He has also contributed a number of articles to legal journals.
